just another error in judgement

Not for everyone. If you feel like having Christmas, then you just go right ahead and celebrate to your heart’s content. And I guess I’m not technically canceling the entirety of Christmas (whatever you may have been told, I’m really not that powerful) … just the gift-giving part … and really only the gifts that concern Paul and I. We still get to enjoy sparkly-shiny decorations and tasty-toasty foods, but gifts are pretty much out of the question. Mostly this has to do with money or the lack thereof. Of course I could always *make* gifts, but that’s just as expensive as buying gifts (if anyone tries to tell you differently they are lying) unless I manage to discover a way to turn my saliva into a glue-product and rip all my books to shreds in an attempt to make big papier-mâché piñatas filled with something … I do not know what. And no matter how much love I put into it, for some reason I just don’t want to be known as the relative who sent everyone huge blobby-shapeless creations of spittle and cheap paper for Christmas.

So this year, Christmas cards, however lame they may be, will have to do.
