just another error in judgement

I won’t be updating things here for awhile. It’s the holiday season and I have plenty of Christmassy things to keep myself occupied with. Yes, I know, I pretty much cancelled Christmas last month, but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy the sights, smells, and sounds of the holiday. I’m no Scrooge.

See you next year!

For anyone interested, there’s actually an article that goes with the picture above. This is the first time I’ve seen him decked out in full gear. Crazy.

It seems I’m getting quite popular these days. No, I don’t mean with you people. Frankly, I don’t know why you keep coming back here. This place is really just here for me to be unashamedly vain, and I can’t imagine my narcissism is the least bit appealing to anyone other than myself. No, no, no; this popularity I mentioned happens to be more along the lines of people I thought were either lost or had forgotten me suddenly hunting me down and reestablishing contact. Within the past six months I’ve been reconnected with three people. All of them wonderful amazing people who at one time or another in my life have deserved the title “best friend.” (I’ve never been good at only having one best friend at a time. Strangely though, I’m usually the only thing they ever have in common, so they never really crossed paths.) Anyway, having three such important people reenter my life within such a short time is surprising, unexpected, and maybe a little overwhelming. It also makes me feel rather special.

Last night, at work, I spent a few hours helping put up Christmas trees. We’re supposed to have the entire place decorated by this Saturday. I think there will be some sort of Christmas village thing going on and the library is required to look appropriately festive. I didn’t actually have much of a chance to decorate the trees. I really only had enough time to put one tree up completely, and then help the huge tree down stairs spread its branches correctly. The giant tree is actually a little wicked. I’m under the impression that it spent most of the past year in a storage facility exposed to lots of dust. And it’s so incredibly big that I had to practically crawl into the thing to get it looking right. Surprisingly, the manual labor was pretty fun. I just hope I get to finish this evening.

When I left for home, I walked outside into the cold, crisp air and I could smell chimney smoke. It was wonderful.
