It smells like winter

Last night, at work, I spent a few hours helping put up Christmas trees. We’re supposed to have the entire place decorated by this Saturday. I think there will be some sort of Christmas village thing going on and the library is required to look appropriately festive. I didn’t actually have much of a chance to decorate the trees. I really only had enough time to put one tree up completely, and then help the huge tree down stairs spread its branches correctly. The giant tree is actually a little wicked. I’m under the impression that it spent most of the past year in a storage facility exposed to lots of dust. And it’s so incredibly big that I had to practically crawl into the thing to get it looking right. Surprisingly, the manual labor was pretty fun. I just hope I get to finish this evening.

When I left for home, I walked outside into the cold, crisp air and I could smell chimney smoke. It was wonderful.
