Rumination.

After my shower this morning I noticed my thoughts turning to LOST and what has been going on in the show so far. There’s something that bothers me … and I’m referring to something other than all the questions that are never effectively answered. What irritates me, is that I was under the impression that the show would be establishing some sympathy for the “Others.” I thought there might be some justification for Ben/Henry Gale referring to his group of followers as the “good guys.” So far, and I do realize we are only four episodes into to the third season, I have seen no real evidence of good about them. What I have seen is lies lies lies, torture, false imprisonment, repeated kidnapping, and a blatant disregard of human life … at least human life of those that are not considered one of them. I have not seen any act of amazing benevolence, no assistance to those who find themselves stuck on the island wishing for rescue.

I halfway wish that the show would go back to exploring the interconnectedness of those that survived the crash, and the circumstances that led each of them taking Oceanic flight 315 that fateful day. It was much more interesting and intense when the creators kept things a little simpler.

I hope LOST doesn’t turn into another X-Files. A show that outstayed its welcome by more than a season. At least I was smart enough to stop watching when it was obvious that the show was taking a turn for the worse.
