May has gotten off to an interesting start. Or maybe I should say an interesting middle since the month is about half over.
Last week we finally replaced our fence. It was something we wanted to do as soon as we purchased the house. The fence that was here was terrible, and it amazes me still that it managed to stay upright even during the worst of our windy weather last month. 70 mph winds are not to be scoffed at. Paul says the only reason it didn’t fall over was because the fence was mostly holes and thus offered no real resistence. Our new fence is much nicer. It’s pretty and private and it makes our yard feel a little like an oasis. Once we actually do a little backyard landscaping, it will be even better.
The fence was going to be our major expense this year. Sadly, that is no longer the case. 24 hours after the new fence was finished our air conditioner had a heart attack and died. We’re having a completely new system put in today. I’m just grateful the a/c had the courtesy to go out before the average daily temperatures started climbing. The past few days would have been murder in the middle of July, and even unimaginable in August. Thank goodness for small wonders
