This evening we will be celebrating with a Firefly/Serenity marathon. We haven’t watched the series from start to finish in well over a year so it’s definitely time to refresh my memory about what a great show it was. I hope you’re having a nice celebratory evening too with whatever plans you made.
December this year has already been a steady mixture of delight and horror and we’re not even halfway through it. Okay, so I may be exaggerating the horror part.
First off, I’m a willing participant in this years Talking Time Forums Festivus 2008. My Ninja Santa did a great job and managed to find, make, and send things that really appeal to me. I’m very impressed because I gave her hardly any useful information to go on. I ended up with quite a haul. She hand-knitted me a pair of socks and scarf, she sent four DS games, a copy of Persona 3 FES, and two buttons. The Katamari button is delightful and I have a feeling the Aperture Science button will probably walk off with Paul to work at some point. Two of the DS games I know little to nothing about, but plan on acquainting myself with them over the next few weeks when I’m not laughing it up with family. I love the hand-made socks and the scarf. I also can’t wait until I can sit down and start playing Persona 3. People who play it seem to really like it, and I can always use another fun game in my collection.
But festivus hasn’t been entirely wonderful. Currently, the gift I sent out is missing. I used UPS and instead of delivering the package to the Apartment office at her complex, the delivery driver left it at her front door. And right now it looks like someone has walked off with it. If it has really been stolen the person who took it probably won’t be as thrilled with the contents as they think. I tailored it to the woman I was assigned and most of the contents were hand-made. Because of it’s uniqueness I am going to start checking e-bay and other online places. Also, because I don’t want my gift-ee to go empty-handed this Festivus I plan on doing my best to recreate the items. I won’t start on it until after we’re 100% certain the gift is gone.
A few other things have occurred this month:
1. The shower in the master bath is out of commission until we can take the time to re-tile it entirely. Maybe it will finally motivate me to redecorate in there. It’s high time I got rid of the awful wallpaper.
2. Monday or Tuesday night, I’m not sure which, we had a tornado warning. We actually heard the sirens go off and everything. This is the second warning this year, but the previous one took place during tornado season.
3. Paul and I are both sick. Paul started coming down with something Sunday, missed three days of work and made a trip to the doctor on Wednesday. He has two prescriptions now and he seems like he’s feeling better. I started feeling sick yesterday, but I’m pretty sure I just have a cold. Anyway, we’ve pretty much been living on home-made chicken noodle soup this week, and our supply of tissues is quickly dwindling. We both need to get better, neither of us have had a decent night’s sleep all week.
4. And some good news! I’m almost finished with all the holiday shopping. I still have 2 or 3 people to buy for. At the moment I have no idea what I will be getting them, but Bev and I plan on going shopping early next week and she may have some helpful ideas.
I’ve never been a big fan of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, but this year I’m actually kind of sad I missed it. I would have liked to have seen the Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends float for myself.
