just another error in judgement

So it looks like I have finally come up with a solution for pencil organization. For my birthday I was given a giftcard to Michaels (thank you Dustin and Shannon). I wasn’t able to find anything specifically designed for pencils, but I did come across a group of unfinished cigar boxes. They’re the perfect size for storing unsharpened pencils. Paul is helping me cut dividers out of some very thin birch and then I’m gluing them into the boxes at intervals. It looks like I’m going to be able to fit 20 colors per box, with up to 4 pencils of each color. A completely full box would have 80 pencils. The only drawback is that since I have over 120 colors, I’m going to need 7 cigar boxes. Ideally the 7th box will contain the last few of my pencils and some other supplies as well, like extra sharpeners, erasers, extenders, a normal range of drawing pencils, and maybe even my x-acto knife and replacement blades. I also think I’m going to create a color wheel or map to fit on the inside of each box lid. I haven’t decided whether or not I’m going to use a stain or seal on the boxes, or whether I just want to paint the exteriors. A stain would probably be the classiest way to go. It might shape up to be a complicated project, but I think that in the end I will have exactly what I need.
