So much for my efforts to get back on the ShrinkyDink track and to attempt regularly scheduled posts again. Those plans were shot down when Paul was offered and then accepted a job offer in an entirely different state. We rushed around like madmen to find a place to live, pack up our belongings and relocate all in the span of roughly less than a month. I’m exhausted.
Our official move in day was last week, and after a lot of help (thanks everyone!) and diligent effort we only have four boxes left to unpack. That’s not quite right. At least two of the boxes are partially unpacked, a third will probably remained packed up just not taped shut, and the fourth, well I guess we’ll wait and see about that one. Right now I’m trying to organize all the things that have already made it out of the box so I can find room for all the things still in boxes. I also have hopes of putting stuff up on the walls before the week ends.
Paul’s been talking about a venture into Alabama geocaching this weekend, but if it rains (like it’s supposed to) I don’t really think I want to be knee deep in mud at least not without some semblance of familiarity with the local flora and fauna. I’ve mentioned going out to see a movie or possibly attending the Star Wars nerd-o-rama at the Space and Rocket Center but I think it’s in town until sometime in September so we should have plenty of time to catch it before it leaves.
This weekend Paul and I successfully tiled the tub surround. Mom and Dad, I’m sure you’re the proudest of me you’ve ever been. I’ll take pictures and post them in a few days, after we’ve grouted and caulked. Then all you other folks can bask in the glow of how much more awesome we are than you.
The only drawback is that I’m now exhausted. Dinner better be manna from the heavens or else we’re just going to have to make do with cold mouth-shredding cereal.
What’s that I hear? Aye aye Cap’n! Here I come.

I’ve been trying new recipes out on Paul lately. The most recent was a small and very simple peanut butter cookie recipe that I ended up modifying. It turned out better than I expected. I think my next baking experiment will involve sugar cookies or possibly garlic cheddar bread.

On Memorial Day Paul decided to record part of the Land of the Lost marathon that was airing on Sci-Fi. Yesterday I discovered that our DVR might be gaining sentience. Half of the episodes that Paul recorded were suddenly missing. (And no, I did not go in and delete them while he was sleeping.) This is just one more sign that the machine revolution is just around the corner. Prepare to serve your mechanical overlords!

If you’re a returning visitor you’ve probably noticed that things look quite a bit different here. Sometime last week, Paul suggested I start using wordpress instead of trying to create an entirely new site design from scratch like I’ve been meaning to do for months now. After taking a look at wordpress and getting a decent feel for it, I had to agree that converting over was going to be easier than what I initially had in mind. So I’ve spent a few days trying to make the transition, tweaking things a little here and there. I still have some additional adjusting to do, but I thought it was time to go ahead and unveil what things will look like from here on out. This new look also means that comments are now available.
Enjoy the new look!
