just another error in judgement

E3 2009 is now more than halfway over, and I’ve been following the events as well as I can. Right now I’m still trying to process what has been revealed so far. There’s a flood of information and my brain is only capable of taking in so much at once. I really have to wonder how people who actually attend manage to stay abreast of all that goes on.

The Great Fairy pictured above is a vast improvement over the version that appeared in both Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask. However I did like the weird floating bunny-like fragments of the Great Fairies in the latter. They were strangely charming.

Last night, we attended the DSO performance of the music of John Williams. It was not the most pleasant of experiences. The performance itself was fine, but what transpired before and a little of what transpired after cut back of the enjoyment of the evening. I won’t go into the details, but it was obnoxious enough that I am not sure I want to go back anytime soon. This is a shame, because in June the DSO will be performing music composed by Nobuo Uematsu from the Final Fantasy series.

Yesterday, at the annual GDC, Nintedo president Satoru Iwata announced a new Legend of Zelda game slated for release later this year. The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks will be the second Zelda game made for the DS. It has the same cel shading we’ve scene in Windwaker, Minish Cap, and Phantom Hourglass. I watched video of it earlier and the game play looks mostly, if not entirely, stylus-based just like the most recent installment of the series. I’m hoping for good things from this game. I can already tell I’m going to enjoy some of the new features.

I guess I know what I’ll be asking for at Christmas.

I thought I would be posting late today because I had plans this morning that were going to interfere with my normal schedule. Upon waking, the streets were, and for the moment still are, covered in a thin layer of ice. This being Texas, and the metroplex at that, no one knows how to drive on ice but they try anyway which leads to even more dangerous road conditions than usual. The weathermen are freaking out the way they do this time of year, and the school district has closed the schools for the day. Again, since this is Texas, the good news is that the sun will be bright and shiny and everything should be melted away by midafternoon. In the meantime, I’ll be hunkering down under layers of warm blankets with a good book and my trusty DS.
